The existence of new current induced forces in molecular junctions has recently been shown. One having roots in the geometric phase this force is named the Berry force. Together with a non-conservative electron wind force the Berry force can lead to run-away modes at certain critical voltages causing the breakdown of the junctions.

This talk will present the Berry force and discuss the possibility to detect these run-away modes using Raman spectroscopy. We find voltage dependent Raman spectra where one mode will increase in temperature and one mode will decrease.
