Dr. Hanna Wacklin is the instrument responsible for the neutron reflectometer FIGARO at Institute Laue-Langevin (ILL). Hanna received an MSc in Chemistry from Imperial College, London in 1999 and was awarded a PhD from Oxford University in 2004, where she worked as a post-doc in the Physical Chemistry Laboratory until 2005. In 2006 she also worked as a research fellow at the Toshiba Corporate Research Centre in Japan. She was a post-doc in the Characterisation of Biomolecules project at ANSTO institute for Environmental Research until May 2009 when she joined the ILL. Her main research activity is characterising biological materials with neutron reflection and developing model biomimetic membranes suitable for membrane protein studies.
