To obtain a researcher degree, a PhD, a student must complete a PhD programme, write a PhD thesis based on a research project and, finally, defend his/her thesis in a satisfactory manner.

The PhD programme consists of the following elements:

  • Independent research project
  • Participation in courses (totalling approx. half a year’s full time study beyond that required for a Master degree)
  • Teaching activities and/or other types of knowledge dissemination
  • A stay at another research institution or research environment
  • Preparation of a PhD thesis

You can find more information about the PhD study at The Faculty of Science on the website of the Faculty. Some of our PhD students are also enrolled at The Faculty of Health.

In 2003 graduate education has been strengthened at the Nano-Science Center by establishing  “Copenhagen Graduate School for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology – a joint venture with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). In 2010 around 110 graduate students are enrolled.

If you need more information on the Copenhagen Graduate School for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, please do not hesitate to contact Gitte Frandsen, at telephone +45 35 32 04 58 or e-mail: gf@nano.ku.dk.

Annual Meeting for PhD students
