Fun for “Earthlings” - Looking for life in a MARS analogue site: An AMASE'ing experience.
The NASA and ESA 'Search for life' Mars missions scheduled for the next
decade require stringent sampling and analysis protocols to recognise
possible biosignatures. I will describe testing in the extreme
environment of the Arctic. I will also show how we have developed and
applied field-based zero-contamination sampling. We have used spectral
and microbiological approaches for identifying mineral composition and
low-level chemical biosignatures for use in future robotic or human
planetary missions.
