Title: Indium Arsenide Nanowires
Fabrication, Characterization, and Biological Applications

In this work the growth of Au-assisted and self-assisted InAs nanowires (NWs) has been investigated. The wires are synthesized using a solid source molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) system and characterized with several techniques including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and x-ray diffraction.
InAs NWs can be used in a broad range of applications, including detectors, high speed electronics and for low temperature transport measurements, but in this work focus is put on biological experiments on living cells.

The growth processes for InAs NWs have been optimized and large scale arrays and defect free nanowires are presented. Also, a route towards achieving electrical contact to individual vertical NWs is shown.
